The Scarred are a punk rock band from Anaheim, California formed in 2003, on the New York-based label Punk Core records. In the punk rock scene, they are one of the only old school punk bands active from Anaheim, and known for bridging the sound between modern street punk and early 1977 influenced punk rockThe Scarred formed in 2003 by Justin Willits, Matt "Monkey" Hatcher, and Isha Rose Willits. The three had been in bands before and quickly set to work playing live shows with such Punk Rock notables as Naked Aggression, Menace, Cheap Sex, The Skeptix, and more.

The band recorded a demo in the back room of a radio station, and sent it out to underground Zines, where it quickly received good reviews, including California's legendary MRR. Capitalizing on their good reviews, the band decided to record a full-length album and entered 459 Audio studios in Monrovia, California to record their debut album. In February 2004, the band finally released their first album, Repression, before heading out on their first U.S. Tour. Over the next year they toured the country relentlessly, quickly selling out the thousand copies of their debut CD and gaining some attention in the Punk media not only for their albums, but for their live show. The quick sales of Repression led to the band entering the studio to record a split seven-inch with New Jersey punk band Void Control. It was released in early 2005, quickly earning the band more good reviews. The split-EP was also released on limited Coke bottle Green colored Vinyl, which sold out immediately and has since become difficult to find.In August 2005, the band was offered a record deal with a New York street-punk label. According to the band, they were thrilled to receive the offer, as they were in debt, on the verge of bankruptcy, and would have had no other option but to end the band.
Unfortunately, the master copy of the DVD had been scratched over the Scarred's set, causing the audio and video on the last segments to skew. Justin would later comment that they regretted recording for the DVD at all, due to the rushed and comparatively low quality of their segment, but that they were honored to be included and featured alongside The Casualties, The Virus, and Defiance, among others. According to the Spring 2006 Edition of Loud, Fast, Rules! magazine, the band had been recording songs over the last nine months one session at a time as budget allowed. With Punk Core's help, they were able to finish the album in December 2005, at which point it was set for release in April, 2006.
With a live lineup tested and in place, in January 2010 frontman Justin Scarred surprised fans by announcing he would spend the year concentrating writing a brand new album, while the other band members take 2010 to tour with their respective bands, and Ben 9000 drums for controversial pop-figure Jeffree Star on his world tour. In late March 2010, media sources announced that The Scarred would be playing an unknown limited number of East Coast tour dates sponsored by DNA Energy Drink with Florida punk rock band "The New Threat." As of April 15, 2010, according to the band's Myspace calendar, dates are scheduled for July 8–20, 2010.
Aloran Sattarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683541174879396349noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8405206691374275611.post-44088600039205258202011-06-19T17:59:00.000+05:302011-06-19T17:59:24.548+05:30Allister

Allister is an American pop punk band from Chicago, Illinois. The four-piece formed in 1996 and were one of the first bands to sign to Drive-Thru Records. Besides releasing four studio albums — 1999's Dead Ends and Girlfriends, 2002's Last Stop Suburbia, 2005's Before the Blackout, and 2010's Countdown to Nowhere — Allister made a cameo appearance in the 2004 film Sleepover. On March 6, 2007, the band announced their intention to go on hiatus. In 2010, Allister reunited after a three-year hiatus.Allister was formed in Chicago, Illinois under their original name Phineas Gage by high school (James B. Conant H.S.) classmates John Hamada (vocals/guitar) and Tim Rogner (vocals/drums) with Eric "Skippy" Mueller (bass) in 1996. The following year, they changed their name to Allister, paying homage to Alasdair Gillis from the Canadian TV show You Can't Do That on Television. Upon being submitted a short demo tape, Drive-Thru Records decided to put out their debut release: a 7 inch vinyl record containing four songs, titled You Can't Do that on Vinyl (1998). Before the end of the year, Allister added another guitarist to the band, so Mueller took over guitar duties while Scott Murphy joined on bass.
In 1999, Drive-Thru Records released the band's full-length CD Dead Ends and Girlfriends with that very line-up. The catchy 28-minute album, which was recorded with a production budget of a mere $700, featured playful yet promising pop punk tunes, along with covers of the Fraggle Rock theme song and the Backstreet Boys' "I Want It that Way".
Within the following years, Mueller quit Allister. Hamada eventually quit as well, after tracking some songs for the group's follow-up record. Rogner replaced Mueller on the rhythm guitar, while Rogner's younger brother Chris filled Hamada's shoes on lead guitar and David Rossi joined on drums.
The album featured several fan-favorites, such as "Radio Player", "Overrated" and "Somewhere on Fullerton" (an ode to the legendary Chicago punk venue, Fireside Bowl), though the band had to part ways with both Rossi and Chris Rogner, who would concentrate on his own band August Premier. The band added Kyle Lewis (guitar) — formerly of Showoff, Now She's Gone and The Fold — and Mike Leverence (drums); formerly of PARR5, the following year. Last Stop Suburbia reached #9 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

In 2004, Allister toured the world (including Europe and Japan) and scored a small guest appearance on the big screen in the film Sleepover, before releasing their third album Before the Blackout (2005) and supporting it by co-headlining the "Before the Blackout, after the Breakup Tour" with Fenix*TX.
The group released a cover EP titled Guilty Pleasures only in Japan in late 2006, which was supported by a simultaneous Japanese tour. Before the departure, Rogner learned that he was becoming a father and decided to take a job where he was more available to his family. Allister decided to go on hiatus following another Japanese tour throughout March 2007 — for which former Allister member Chris Rogner took his brother's place — and a farewell show in Chicago. Murphy and Lewis joined the band The Get Go, though Murphy recently left the band.n 2008, Scott Murphy recorded his solo EP entitled Guilty Pleasures II as a continuation of the band's past work. The album contains a number of Japanese and English cover-songs. The very popular song "Voyage", by Japanese megastar Ayumi Hamasaki was also included. Murphy released another follow-up EP, Guilty Pleasures 3, on December 3, 2008. Guilty Pleasures 3 was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for shipment of 100,000 copies on September 10, 2009 and Guilty Pleasures II was also certified Gold by RIAJ on December 10, 2009.
Adrenalin O.D. was a popular hardcore punk band from New Jersey that existed from 1981 to 1990. They are best known for playing extremely fast music accompanied by humorous lyrics.Adrenalin O.D. formed in 1981 from the ashes of late '70s punk band The East Paterson Boys Choir. A.O.D.'s first recordings saw release on the widely distributed New York Thrash cassette compilation released on ROIR cassettes in 1982. The compilation also featured the first recordings of the Beastie Boys, as well as prominent NYC punk bands like Kraut and the Washington DC band Bad Brains. The comedic and speedy "Paul's Not Home" became an instant college radio hit.A.O.D.'s first vinyl release, a six song (EP) entitled Let's Barbeque, was released on their own Buy Our Records label. Because the budget was so tight, the band could only afford 15 minutes of studio time. They recorded all six tracks in one take with no overdubs. Buy Our Records became one of New Jersey's largest indie punk labels and springboarded the careers of many bands including Flag of Democracy, Raging Slab, and Pussy Galore.
Adrenalin O.D.'s first album entitled The Wacky Hijinks of Adrenalin O.D. showcased the band's use of blazing speed-punk and sarcastic lyrics, taking aim at the suburban experience with songs like "Middle Aged Whore", "Trans Am" (the inspiration for the Dead Milkmen's "Bitchin' Camaro"), and the crowd favorite "Rock n' Roll Gas Station". The album contains an untitled and blatantly obvious backmasked track.
When played backwards, it is the band members saying in unison; "God is very, very nice. Be kind to animals. Satan sucks." The band turned down offers from virtually every major metal label looking to market the band to the emerging thrash metal crowds, maintaining that even though their songs had a metallic edge they were a punk band. Adrenalin O.D. toured nationally and created a loyal following via their live shows (described by some as an experience somewhere between Minor Threat and Don Rickles.) The band's quick wit and on-stage banter was at times as much of an improv stand-up comedy act as a hardcore punk band, and fans coined the term "funny-punk" to describe their performances. Tracks that exhibit the band's quirky sense of humor include a punk rock cover of Henry Mancini's "Baby Elephant Walk", a surf rock version of "Hava Nagila" entitled "Surfin' Jew" aka "Surfin' Adam Meshell", and a track entitled "Masterpiece" which is a punk reworking of Jean-Joseph Mouret's 'Rondeau" from "Symphonies and Fanfares for the King's Supper" .
By their third release Cruising With Elvis In Bigfoot's UFO, the band brought in producer Daniel Rey (who had worked with the Ramones, Misfits and Iggy Pop) to help the band's translation from hyper-speed to mid-tempo melodic punk. With songs like "Bulimic Food Fight", and "My Mom Can't Drive", Stereo Review Magazine ranked the album among the funniest records of all time, and the album was formative in the development of the punk sound of Fat Wreck Chords.
Aloran Sattarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683541174879396349noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8405206691374275611.post-34947975073281811532011-06-07T21:30:00.000+05:302011-06-07T21:30:45.128+05:30Alternative TV

Alternative TV (sometimes known as ATV) were an English rock band, formed in London in 1976. Their punk rock and post-punk sound was influential for several musical artists.Alternative TV were formed by Mark Perry, the founding editor of Sniffin' Glue punk fanzine, with Perry and Alex Fergusson.
The band's debut single was "Love Lies Limp", a free flexi disc issued with the final edition of Perry's Sniffin' Glue fanzine. On this single Perry and Fergusson were accompanied by John Towe (ex Generation X) and Tyrone Thomas. Towe left to join the Rage and was replaced by Chris Bennett, so completing a line-up which early punk fans consider to epitomise the punk era (the band subsequently underwent extensive line-up changes). Shortly afterwards they released the "How Much Longer" / "You Bastard" 7" in December 1977, the A-side being a critique of youth culture apathy.
Soon thereafter at the end of 1977, Perry sacked his chief collaborator Fergusson. The latter went on to form Cash Pussies and, a few years later, Psychic TV along with Genesis P-Orridge. Fergusson was replaced by Dennis Burns.
A dub influenced single, "Life after Life," was released as well as a debut album, The Image Has Cracked. The band's second album, Vibing Up the Senile Man saw the band take a more explicitly experimental direction however, which alienated many of their followers as well as the music press.
Alternative TV soon evolved into the avant-garde project, The Good Missionaries (taking the name from a track on the 'Vibing' album), releasing one album, "Fire From Heaven" in 1979. A series of releases under Perry's own name as well as an album under the name Door and the Window followed before Perry, Burns and Fergusson briefly reformed Alternative TV along with former members of Fergusson's Cash Pussies in 1981. Alex briefly returned to collaborate with Mark on the Alternative TV's 'pop' album, Strange Kicks which was produced by Richard Mazda.

From 1981 to 1984, Perry had a new project, Reflections, collaborating with Karl Blake (of The Lemon Kittens) and Grant Showbiz among others, before concentrating on production.Perry reformed ATV in 1985. This line up started with Karl Blake, Steve Cannell and Allison Philips. Protag and then Clive Giblin featured later on guitar and ATV released further records on and off over the following decade or so with varying line-ups, Perry being the only constant member. Another line up followed with James Kyllo and Steve Cannell which lead to the releases of "Sol" and "Dragon Love".
One-Eyed Doll is a goth punk duo based in Austin, Texas which was voted the Best Punk Band in 2009, 2010 and 2011 at the Austin Music Awards at SXSW along with variously placing in the Top Ten in the categories of Best New Band, Best Metal Band, Best Female Vocalist, Best Guitarist, Best Drummer, etc. With a discography of eight full-length albums under its belt, the band is currently No. 1 on ReverbNation's local chartand touring nationally the summer of 2011 with OTEP/Atavist. The leit-motif of the band's lead singer and guitarist, Kimberly Freeman (which has been described as Gwar meets Strawberry Shortcake is heavily influenced by anime; she performs on a signature Tregan guitar, accompanied by the lone drummer (and producer) Jason "Junior" Sewell, in a highly theatrical style which has been described musically as "... Pixies meets Siouxsie meets Hole."
One-Eyed Doll, which was formed in 2008, first gained recognition from their peers when they won their first Best Punk Band at the 2009 SXSW; the award was presented by Exene Cervenka of the first-generation punk band X. That year they also won 2nd place Metal Band, 3rd place Best New Band, 4th place Industrial/Both Band, 7th place Best Acoustic Guitar (Kimberly Freeman), 8th place Female Vocals (Kimberly Freeman), and 10th place Best Record Producer (Jason Rufuss Sewell, for Monster.) One-Eyed Doll broke into the mainstream media, however, with the release of their eighth album (their third commercially released) Break, whereupon Kimberly Freeman was featured in the January/February 2010 Fallen Heroes issue of Revolver in its cover feature The Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock; she also appeared as an awakening zombie on America's Got Talent.
In an unusual tie-in, Kimberly Freeman is one of several real-life people to appear in the massively multiplayer online role playing game AdventureQuest Worlds (where she is styled as the True Sixth Lord of Chaos) the OED song Battle On is prominently featured. She also appears in the AdventureQuest Worlds Anything-Goes Battle On Battle Card Game on two cards, one of them a berserker enhancement card quite in keeping with her on-stage persona.
They were known for provocative and politically engaged songs and billed themselves "The First Punk Band Behind The Iron Curtain". They are one of the most important former Yugoslav Punk groups and one of the first punk rock bands ever formed in a communist country.Peter Lovšin and Gregor Tomc, two young men from the Ljubljana suburb of Kodeljevo, came up with the idea of forming a band in 1977. From its beginnings, the band was heavily influenced by the UK punk scene. Tomc and Lovšin were the primary song writers. Lovšin was the singer of the band, while Tomc came up with the band name and was the band's manager.
The band started playing in fall of 1977, practicing in the basement of Kodeljevo's music school, and held the first concert at Moste High School. Initially they played covers of established punk bands including the Sex Pistols, The Clash and New York Dolls. Some of their first songs that became popular were "Za železno zaveso" (Behind The Iron Curtain), "Anarhist" (Anarchist) and "Lublana je bulana" (Ljubljana is Sick). They were included in the Novi Punk Val compilation album. They released their first album "Dolgcajt" (Boredom) in 1980 and gained the status of a cult band all over former Yugoslavia.
Their second album “Državni ljubimci” (State Lovers) was highly appreciated in the public and gained an award for best Yugoslav album of the year.
Its title is an obvious pun on the famous album by The Beatles and red as a symbol of communism. The album featured a cover version of the famous Italian communist revolutionary song Bandiera Rossa (Red Flag), which is one of their most famous tracks.
One of their last concerts was in Tivoli Hall in Ljubljana in 1987, named Zadnji pogo (The Last Pogo).
In 1996 the group temporarily reformed to perform as a support act for the Sex Pistols concert in Ljubljana during their Filthy Lucre Tour. In 2003, Pankrti were included in the 2003 Yugonostalgic Croatian rockumentary Sretno dijete, which deals with the former Yugoslav Punk and New Wave scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The band's founding members, Gregor Tomc and Peter Lovšin, who is now a solo artist backed by the band Španski borci (Spanish Republican Fighters), announced Pankrti's reunion concert in the immediately sold out Hall Tivoli for December 1, 2007 as a celebration of their 30th anniversary. This act was followed by performances in Serbia and Croatia. These events coincide with the 2007 Sex Pistols reunion for the 30th anniversary of Never Mind The Bollocks. This also shows that the Pankrti and the Pistols were starting their career almost at the same time and both were the most influential bands in region.
Million Dead were a hardcore punk band from London, UK, active between 2001 and 2005.The band was founded in 2000 by Cameron Dean and Julia Ruzicka, after both came to London from Australia. They were joined by Ben Dawson, who had worked with Dean in a record shop in the city. The band's lineup was completed with the addition of vocalist Frank Turner, an old bandmate of Dawson's. The name was chosen from a lyric in the song “The Apollo Programme Was a Hoax”, by Swedish hardcore punk band Refused. The first Million Dead demo was recorded in September 2001.
The band's touring career began with support sets for Cave In, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Icarus Line and Alec Empire. In late 2002, the band signed to Integrity Records / Xtra Mile Recordings, and released their first single, “Smiling At Strangers On Trains”. The video for the single, directed by Adam Mason, proved controversial as it featured scenes of a homeless man urinating through a letterbox, as well as on Dean.
The single received support from John Peel, Mike Davies, Mary Anne Hobbs and Steve Lamacq, helping the band secure a support slot with Pitchshifter on their farewell tour.
The band entered the studio in April 2003 to record their debut album, A Song To Ruin, released in September, along with the single “Breaking The Back”. In December 2003, following a tour with Funeral For a Friend, Million Dead embarked on their first headline tour of the UK in support of the album, supported by Jarcrew and Minus.
In 2004, guitarist Cameron Dean announced he was leaving the band to get married, and was replaced by Tom Fowler. After a series of festival dates over the summer, the band re-entered the studio to record a new album. Written and recorded in eight weeks, Harmony No Harmony was released in May 2005, followed by another UK headline tour with Engerica and Days of Worth, and support dates on Finch's UK tour.
Million Dead remixed the song 'Pop Idol' by legendary UK Hip Hop artist Blade, providing an instrumental-only arrangement for the rapper, the original song having previously appeared on his earlier record Storms Are Brewing.
In September 2005, it was announced via the band's official website that Million Dead were to call it a day at the conclusion of their September tour, as “irreconcilable differences within the band mean that it would be impossible to continue”. The band played their final concert at Southampton's Joiners venue on September 23, 2005.
Filth is a hardcore punk band from East Bay, California.Formed in the East Bay in 1989, from the ashes of Isocracy, the Vagrants, and Crimpshrine; Filth was a crustcore band that would help define the later "East Bay Hardcore" style. The band combined the more upbeat, sometimes poppy guitar styles of Isocracy's Lenny Rokk with harsh screamed vocals, courtesy of Crimpshrine roadie, Jake Sayles. The rhythm section was composed of an East Bay punk known as Mike-o the Psycho on bass, and Jim Gray on drums, also on guitar was Dave (E.C.) Henwood of the Vagrants. Dave left the band after recording the shit split LP (1990) and Toby was brought in to replace him. They released a split album with Blatz, known as the Shit Split (1991), which is now available on CD, containing both bands complete discography via lifeisabuse.com, and the This Is Why We Are the Drunks split 7" with Submachine.
Toby left the band, and Joey of Blatz stepped in shortly before the band's premature 1991 break-up.Len Rokk and Mike-O Psycho were some of the founding members of Strychnine in 1995, and both left the band after recording the Dead Rats and Oakland Dogs LP, for Len's (now defunct) label, East Bay Menace Records.
Mike and Jake founded a band with Shoshanna Wheaton and members of Queen Mab and Talk Is Poison, called Fields Of Shit, who only recorded one 10" EP before disbanding. It is available via Life Is Abuse.
Jim moved back to Canada and formed a band called Tension, who released a CD called "War Cry" on Cargo Music/Grilled Cheese Records, and later joined the Exploited.
Blatz was a punk band formed in 1989 in Berkeley, California. Blatz came out of the 924 Gilman Street Project scene during the late '80s, and early '90s along with bands like Operation Ivy, Filth, and Green Day.Blatz was well known as an integral representation of early 1990s East Bay punk. Touring mostly throughout southern California, Arizona and Nevada, they played mainly at 924 Gilman St., and practiced there as well. The band was known for their 'in your face' lyrics filled with sarcasm, irony, humor, and references to masturbation and drugs.
Blatz came to life when Joey Perales and Robert Eggplant, (editor of the zine Absolutely Zippo) went to a party on acid where Sweet Children, better known later as Green Day, were playing and began trying to think of the most embarrassing band name possible. They took the name Blatz, after one of the cheapest brands of beer available in the U.S., and convinced John Santos, a high school drinking buddy, to play with them for their first show, a 924 Gilman Street holiday show. After that first show John quit but with Joey on drums and Robert on guitar they continued and, in the summer of 1989, recruiting Marshall Stax to play bass. At the time Marshall was a DJ for Berkeley campus radio station KALX, as well as volunteering as the sound engineer at Gilman St. While practicing at Gilman St., the band noticed a loner hanging around the club and they invited him to sing with them.
The band expanded further, adding Annie Lalania, another schoolmate of Perales and Eggplant, as well as Anna Joy. Billie Joe Armstrong occasionally played second guitar for the band , and Aaron Cometbus occasionally sat in on second drums .The three singers were often too "screechy" for people, Eggplant was often too stoned to tune his guitar, and band members were often floating away to go to college or Europe. Nonetheless, they managed to release a number of recordings on Lookout! Records, which are highly regarded.
After the band broke up Eggplant went on to play with The Hope Bombs, Harbinger with Aaron Cometbus and John Geek of Fleshies, Cope, Lil' Runt, and, currently, Fugitive Kind; Marshall Stax played drums for Subincision and continues to do his Monday night demo tape radio show; Joey Perales played with Jack Acid, Dead And Gone and more recently joined Pendulum Swing; Anna Joy and Jesse went on to perform with the band The Gr'ups, which also included Daniela Sea; after the demise of that band Jesse sang for The Criminals and The Frisk and Anna Joy and fellow Gr'ups alumna Daniela Sea performed with Cypher in the Snow. Anna Joy is the author of The Birdwisher and The Vicious Red Relic, Love and, along with Tara Jane O'Neil and Rachel Carns has recorded a music/vocal interpretation of The Vicious Red Relic, Love called Your Metaforest Guidebook available on Jaded Ibis Press. Jesse Luscious has also become the voice of Alternative Tentacles Records, hosting their podcast show, Batcast, as well as hosting his own long-standing morning show on KALX radio.
MDC (Millions of Dead Cops) is an American hardcore punk band formed in Austin, Texas in 1979. The band were subsequently based in San Francisco, California, and are currently based in Portland, Oregon. MDC originally formed as The Stains before changing their name. Playing hyper-speed punk rock associated with far left sociopolitical issues has earned the band close association with Jello Biafra and the Dead Kennedys, as well as numerous other US punk bands of the early eighties. The band was also unique[citation needed] in frequently changing their name to a different initialism of MDC with every new record released. MDC's initial run ended in 1995, and the band spent five years on hiatus before returning in 2000 with new members.Formed in 1979 as The Stains and playing their first gig under this name in April 1980, MDC were one of three pioneering hardcore punk bands in Austin, Texas, in the early '80s, alongside The Dicks and Big Boys. These bands frequently played together and established the Austin hardcore scene. They released one single as the Stains in 1981, featuring a slower version of the future MDC song "John Wayne Was a Nazi" backed with "Born to Die". Both songs were later released on the debut MDC album.

By 1982 the band had relocated to San Francisco, California, and renamed themselves MDC. By this point the band were active participants in the growing hardcore scene and released their debut LP Millions of Dead Cops on their own label, R Radical; Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles helped with distribution.
Other targets of criticism devoid of irony included capitalism ("Corporate Death Burger"), homophobia ("America's So Straight"), and American culture ("Violent Rednecks").
H.R. and MDC's Dave Dictor had an intense confrontation. Upon Bad Brains' departure from the bill, they refused to return a loan owed to Big Boys and instead left a note that reportedly read, "burn in hell bloodclot faggot." The incident resulted in the MDC song Pay to Come Along. For MDC, 1982 ended with a tour of Europe with the Dead Kennedys which brought the band greater exposure in the punk scene outside of the U.S., especially in the UK.
Their involvement in the Rock Against Reagan activities continued through 1983 and they returned to recording with the EP "Multi-Death Corporations" which was distributed in the UK by British anarcho-punk label Crass Records and R Radical in the U.S. The EP broke new ground by addressing, in the lengthy liner notes and artwork, the growth of corporations and the violent suppression of Communism in Central America. In 1984 they released another EP, Millions of Dead Children (also known as Chicken Squawk), this time dealing with Vegetarian and Vegan issues via a cowpunk tune.
Flema was an Argentine punk rock band, that managed to find a unique style among other punk bands. The last configuration of the band was: Ricardo Espinosa (Vocals and Guitar), Fernando Rossi (Bass), Luis Garibaldo (Guitar), and Pepe Carvallo (Drums). Their songs usually deal with loneliness, alcohol and drugs, friends, women, politics, and complaints about the tough things in life. Their songs have titles like "borrachos en la esquina" (drunken on the corner), "Semen de buey" (bullock semen), "Blanco cristal" (White crystal, a reference to cocaine). The band leader, Ricardo Espinosa (also known as 'Ricky') was a very controversial and beloved figure, and the core and spirit of Flema. Always drunk, always on coke, always in trouble, often the band could not play on a scheduled date because Ricky and other band members were detained at a local police station. The band was formed in 1987, in Avellaneda (Buenos Aires) by a group of teenaged students. There were a lot of changes in its lineups, with Ricky as the only constant member. Always an underground band, Flema launched their first record in the year 1992 ("Pogo, mosh & Slam"), through an independent record company. The band acquired great success in the Argentine punk scene, not reaching the masses only because of the reputations of the members, specially Ricky.
Their shows were marked by chaos, the members usually drunken and doped on the stage, Ricky fighting with the public, sniffing cocaine on the stage, etc. Their songs often featured guttural vomit-like sounds performed by Ricky, that were one of Flema's trademarks. Happy melodies mixed with profound and touching lyrics written by the perturbed Ricky caught up the feelings of many teenagers that saw their problems reflected in the songs of that band from the suburbs.
He was 34 years old. There is a very persistent urban myth that says that he was drunk playing a Winning Eleven match with a PlayStation when he said to his friend Luichy "If I lose, I'm gonna jump through the window" - He lost and did it, but you will not find reliable sources with direct confirmation of this incident. A lot of versions surrounded Ricky's death. He had been talking about putting an end to his life for years, even writing songs with titles like "I'm Gonna Commit Suicide", "I Have To Go", and "You Will Remember Me". 3 days after Ricky's death, the rest of the band put on a big show with other local groups in his honor. Flema was officially disbanded after that. Every anniversary, hundreds of fans visit Ricky's tomb at the Avellaneda cemetery.
Judge was a New York-based straight edge band; formed in 1987 by Youth of Today guitarist, John "Porcell" Porcelly, and former Youth of Today drummer, Mike "Judge" Ferraro.Their first release was a 7" EP on Porcell's label Schism (which he ran along with Side By Side/ Gorilla Biscuits guitar-player Alex Brown) entitled New York Crew. The record featured 5 songs, one of which was a cover of "Warriors" by the British oi!/punk band Blitz. On this recording, the band was merely a two-piece, featuring Porcelly on bass and guitar, and Ferraro on vocals and drums. But with the addition of bass-player Jimmy Yu (of Mike's former band Death Before Dishonor, which eventually evolved into Supertouch) and drummer "Lukey" Luke Abbey (Warzone/ Gorilla Biscuits), they got together a fully-functional live line-up.
The band received lots of criticism due to their militant Straight Edge lyrics, especially from fanzines like San Francisco's Maximum Rock'N'Roll. The militant lyrics were a conscious move on the band's part, as they were sick of seeing bands like Youth Of Today, who in reality had a very positive message, get slagged for being too militant. So they decided to give the nay-sayers exactly what they wanted – the most militant Straight Edge band imaginable. Mike Ferraro has later on admitted that provocation was an important aim for the band.

Judge was not just heavy in message, the music had very metal-influenced riffing, but remained close to its hardcore roots, without going all out metal, such as bands like Agnostic Front and DRI.
With a new line-up of Sammy Siegler (Side By Side/ Youth Of Today/ Project X etc.) on drums and Matt Pincus on bass, the band proceeded to record their full-length LP Bringin' It Down for Revelation Records at Chung King Studios in New York City. The recording was finished, but the band were so unhappy with the result that they decided to scrap it and re-record it at Normandy Sound in Rhode Island, where The Cro-Mags had recorded their landmark The Age of Quarrel album. Revelation did however put out a limited pressing of the original recording, fittingly titled Chung King Can Suck It (LP). It was given to people who had pre-ordered the record, and with only 110 copies pressed (all on white vinyl), it is one of the most sought-after hardcore records in existence, going for as much as $3,350.00+ USD on online auction sites such as eBay.
Eventually, Bringin' It Down was released in 1989. Judge continued touring up until 1991, and even released another 7" EP, There Will Be Quiet, featuring "The Storm" and "Forget This Time" (the CD-version also contains a cover-version of "When the Levee Breaks", originally by Led Zeppelin).
Dwarves is an American punk band formed in Chicago, Illinois, as The Suburban Nightmare, in the mid-1980s. They are currently based in San Francisco, California. Formed as a garage punk band, their career subsequently saw them move in a hardcore direction before settling into an eclectic punk rock sound. They have been described as "one of the last true bastions of punk rock ideology in the contemporary musical age".The original members of the Dwarves began making music together in the mid-1980s as teenagers in the Chicago garage rock outfit, Suburban Nightmare, which was compared to The Sonics, and which has been described as part of the Paisley Underground scene.
The band became notorious for self-mutilation, on-stage sex, and taking hard drugs, and their live shows would often only last around fifteen minutes, occasionally cut short due to injury caused by spectators. The band's sound began to evolve beyond its early garage roots with their second (nine minute long) LP, Toolin' For A Warm Teabag, which saw the band drifting towards a more truculent punk rock sound, influenced by GG Allin. The band released Blood Guts & Pussy on Sub Pop in 1989. By this time the Dwarves had dropped their early psychedelic sensibilities and morphed into a proper hardcore punk band. The Blood Guts & Pussy LP was followed up by EP Lucifer's Crank released by No.6 Records, as well as another Sub Pop LP, the metal-punk Thank Heaven For Little Girls, both in 1991.
Though this later turned out to be a hoax, the band even went as far as to attach a tribute to the "late" guitarist on their 1993 Sub Pop-released album Sugarfix. Sub Pop did not respond well to the hoax and summarily dropped the band from its label. The Dwarves reformed in 1997, releasing The Dwarves Are Young and Good Looking (described by Adam Bregman of Allmusic as "the beginning of a new Dwarves...one that plays real songs, had a set list, and left the club unbloodied"), and its 2000 followup The Dwarves Come Clean. In the film Me, Myself & Irene, Jim Carrey is seen singing along to Dwarves "Motherfucker", which Dahlia later said he got "tens of thousands of dollars" for. In 2000, the band offered the track "River City Rapist" to George W. Bush as his presidential campaign song.In 2004 the band released The Dwarves Must Die, its first LP for the indie label Sympathy for the Record Industry, which featured guest appearances from Dexter Holland (The Offspring), Nick Oliveri (Queens of the Stone Age), Nash Kato (Urge Overkill), and voice actor Gary Owens. Dahlia was assaulted by Josh Homme of QOTSA before a Dwarves show in Los Angeles in 2004, which saw Homme placed on summary probation for thirty-six months. In 2009, Blag and HeWhoCannotBeNamed were immortalised as Bobbleheads by Aggronautix
The band's style is rooted in reggae and skate punk, with Bad Religion, Pennywise, and Sublime cited as heavy influences. There is an obvious Spanish/Portuguese influence in the band's music as well.Authority Zero was started in 1994 and consisted of two guitarists Bill Marcks, Jerry Douglas (also performing vocals) and drummer J.W. Gordon, all from Westwood High School. This trio put a few songs together without lyrics or basslines until the summer of 1995. When that summer rolled around, Douglas was expecting the yearly visit of his friend Jason DeVore, from Wyoming. Douglas introduced his long time friend with Marcks who jokingly asked if he wanted to be their singer, soon after, it became more than just a joke.
Marcks was impressed with DeVore's ability to "write catchy songs in fifteen minutes with really sticky hooks". The two quickly enlisted Jeremy Wood on bass, who actually taught Marcks and Douglas how to play the guitar. His experience with lead guitar and musical theory separated his bass playing from others'. Not just a "follow along," his baselines were independent and yet fluid with the music.
However, because of Gordon's commitment to the Air Force, his position as drummer soon had to be replaced. Fellow classmate, skateboarder, and drummer Daniel Garcia fit this empty stool like a missing puzzle piece. He brought a new charge and tempo that evolved Authority Zero's music into a faster, more complex, punk rock style. Eventually, however, differences and family obligations led to Garcia's exit from the group.
Marcks, Douglas, DeVore, and Wood finally came upon Los Angeles native Jim Wilcox formerly of Welter/The New Militia who's tragic events ended the group, and he fittingly completed the Authority Zero's lineup. Later Douglas also left the group and joined the Air Force.
After releasing a local EP that sold very well, Authority Zero released their debut album A Passage In Time in 2002 on Lava Records. The album featured a blend of genres including punk rock and reggae, with obvious Spanish and Portuguese influences. A Passage In Time included the hits "One More Minute" and "Over Seasons".
The success of A Passage In Time propelled the band into new popularity. Authority Zero appeared on many tours, such as Warped Tour, the No Use for a Name/The Starting Line tour, and Sum 41's "Sum on Your Face". The band has also toured with the likes of Everclear, Guttermouth and
H2O.
Authority Zero recently released its fourth studio album titled "Stories of Survival" on June 22, 2010 and is currently managed by Hardline Entertainment.
Authority Zero set out in 2011 on the "Swan" tour in support of a new album by Unwritten Law. According to sources within the band, they parted ways with Zach Vogel. He was replaced, at least for the tour, by Brandon Landelius, a guitar player from The Mag Seven
Atheist Rap is a punk rock band from Novi Sad, Serbia. Their lyrics are usually criticism of society and politics and are often humorous accounts of every day events. The idea of forming Atheist Rap came to vocalists Aleksandar Popov, also known as Dr. Pop, and Vladimir Kozbašić, also known as Pećinko at the Rambo Amadeus concert, which took place on November 29, 1988 at the local club Mašinac, but officially the band was formed on January 1, 1989. They merged with members of Fluorel Tatchkash, Vladimir Radusinović, also known as Radule, on guitar and Zoran Zarić, also known as Zare, on bass, and Stevan Gojkov, also knowns as Goja (from Kapetan Leshi, Fear Of Dog, A Better Life Zine), took over the drums.
The first live appearance the band made in late 1988 at the Petrovaradin Fortress gate called Beogradska kapija. After the appearance, the band, with the repertoire consisting of two songs, had another performance, on May 22, 1989, with several local acts. Before the appearance, Popov wrote the song "O.R.A.", which was performed by Popov on vocals, Kozbašić on backing vocals, with the band improvising to the lyrics. The performance provided the band a cult status, despite not having any recordings released. The band also got invitations to perform at several Novi Sad clubs, while writing new material.
At the time, the band had rehearsals and partially lived at the Žuta Kuća in Novi Sad, until it was bulldozed by the local authorities. On January 1990, the band performed at the alternative music festival called Bolje uživo nego u mrtvo, and made first recordings on June 1990, but the beginning of the Yugoslav wars at the beginning of the 1990s stopped the band from releasing the first CD release in the region. It was a 4-song EP, recorded at the Barba studio in Bukovac, entitled Compact Disc, consisting of the songs "Gusti sok", "Stomak eliminator", "Novosadski vašar" and "Gril 13", that Croatian label Jugoton never put out of press, and, as a result, the material was never released in this format. One of the songs from the EP, "Gusti sok" appeared on the various artists compilation Novi Sad Vol. 2. The EP was also to be released by the Novi Sad record label Start Today Records. Despite the EP not being released, the band promoted the recordings through radio and television broadcasts, which increased their popularity.
At the end of 1990, Flourel Tatchkash and Elba drummer Aleksandar Milanov, also known as Atzke, joined the group with versatile Gojkov switching to guitar, and the new lineup had the first live appearance at the KUD Sonja Marinković.
It was at the insisting of Tetcha Morales (manager, guitar, wheels) and Voja Žugić (Scorned Records, Three Pals Zine) that the band recorded their debut album Maori i Crni Gonzales, recorded at the Do-Re-Mi studio in Novi Sad by the end of 1992, and released it in 1993. Despite the funny lyrics of the songs "Ljubav", featuring the sampled speech of Josip Broz Tito, "Wartburg limuzina", "Blu Trabant" and "Plitka poezija", a mixture of cover versions by Pekinška Patka, the album had low sales. However, the band received the album of the year award at the Brzi Bendovi Srbije festival, where they occasionally performed under pseudonymous names Božidara Starog Punk and Električni Jurica. "Wartburg limuzina" and "Blu Trabant" became hits in Serbia and Republic of Macedonia. The latter appeared on the American compilation Delite Elite, featuring indie bands from the USA and Europe. Maori i Crni Gonzales was rereleased by TIOLI in 1994, and again in 1996 by Take It Or Leave It records, featuring four bonus tracks from the never released EP Compact Disc. The album also featured live versions of "Ljubav", "ORA je pravi način da..." and "Ritam". Despite the political and economic situation in the country, the band presented the release at live performances in major Yugoslav cities.
The band was founded by singer and songwriter Hirosuke Nishiyama, who has remained the only constant member of the band since its creation. Since the beginning, Balzac was highly influenced by the sound and image of the famous horror punk band The Misfits and, especially during the very early years, Glenn Danzig's Samhain, adopting and combining the musical and visual style of both bands to create their own. To this day, they are considered by many to be the Japanese counterpart to The Misfits. Jawbreaker was an American punk rock band active from 1986 to 1996 and considered one of the most influential acts of the early-1990s emo movement. Lead vocalist and guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach, bassist Chris Bauermeister, and drummer Adam Pfahler formed the band while students at New York University, later relocating to Los Angeles where they released their debut album Unfun (1990) through independent record label Shredder Records. Relocating again to San Francisco the following year, they released 1992's Bivouac through the Tupelo Recording Company and The Communion Label. Schwarzenbach's charisma and personal, frustrated lyrics helped to establish him as a cult idol, even as he underwent surgery to remove painful and voice-threatening polyps from his throat. Jawbreaker toured with Nirvana in 1993 and released 24 Hour Revenge Therapy in 1994, attracting the attention of major labels. They signed a $1 million contract with DGC Records and released 1995's Dear You, but the album's polished production and smooth vocals resulted in a significant backlash from the band's core audience. Internal tensions led to Jawbreaker's dissolution in 1996.
Pfahler continued to issue previously-recorded Jawbreaker material through his Blackball Records label, and public interest in the band continued due in part to nationally-charting pop punk and emo acts openly indebted to Jawbreaker's sound. In 2004 Pfahler licensed the out-of-print Dear You from DGC's parent company Geffen Records and re-released it to positive response. He has since issued a remastered version of Unfun, and plans to remaster the rest of the band's catalog. In 2007 Jawbreaker briefly reunited in the studio during the recording of a documentary film about the band, but rumors of a full reunion have repeatedly been dispelled by the members and the film has no projected release date.
Prior to forming Jawbreaker, Blake Schwarzenbach and Adam Pfahler were childhood friends in Santa Monica, California and classmates at Crossroads High School. In 1986 they moved to New York City to attend New York University and decided to start a band.Seeking a bassist, they responded to a flyer posted on campus by Chris Bauermeister. "It wasn't just this Xeroxed thing", Pfahler later recalled, "It was something he had drawn, like a poster. It was all colored and it named all the right bands." The trio began practicing together at Giant Studios on Sixth Avenue, with Schwarzenbach on guitar and Pfahler on drums. "It was just us, trying to figure each other out in that hourly room for a while", recalls Schwarzenbach, "We went through a lot of incarnations before we sounded anything like the band we became. I am glad we didn't play live [very much then], because I had to go through my hardcore phase." They practiced with several singers and went through several names during this time, eventually settling on the name Rise
The Soviettes were a punk rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded in 2001. The group was composed of Annie (guitar), Sturgeon (guitar), Susy (bass guitar), and Danny (drums), all of whom switched off singing duties.Annie and Susy, both natives of Fargo, North Dakota, moved to Minneapolis around 2000 where they met Bill Morrisette of Dillinger Four. He suggested that they start a band with his girlfriend, Sturgeon, and were practicing with Dillinger Four's Lane Pederson filling in on drums by 2001. The name originates from when Annie was serving coffee at a previous job, a customer offered "your band should be called The Soviettes" instead of a tip. The band recorded their first EP, T.C.C.P., the same year. Soon Annie found Danny Henry to play with them permanently.
In 2003, The Soviettes released the first LP entitled LP on Adeline Records of Oakland, California.
In 2004, the band released their second LP entitled LP II, again on Adeline Records. The band was then noticed by Fat Wreck Chords in San Francisco, California and was shortly after signed with the label. The band released the song "Paranoia! Cha-Cha-Cha" for the compilation album Rock Against Bush, Vol. 1.
On June 28, 2005, the band's third LP entitled LP III was released on Fat Wreck Chords.
Is Ruining My Life". They also gained an association with the Minnesota RollerGirls with the single "Roller Girls" about the organization with backing vocals from some of the girls.
They toured the United States extensively at the end of 2005 with Fat Wreck label-mates Against Me!, the Epoxies, and Smoke or Fire. After April 2006 the band went on hiatus indefinitely and, at the time, the members doubted the band would reform at all. Susy has since moved to Los Angeles, California.
"I don't know why we broke up," said Danny Henry in 2007, "It was pretty natural. Bands are relationships, they're just more complicated because it's a four-way deal."Since The Soviettes' hiatus, Annie and Danny have continued playing music together as the punk rock duo The Awesome Snakes.
Next was March 19th, 2010 at the Turf Club in St. Paul, MN. Both shows were record release shows for their Rarities album, released for free on Red Sound Records
Crime was an early American punk band from San Francisco. The band was formed in 1976 by Johnny Strike (vocals, guitar), Frankie Fix (vocals, guitar), Ron "The Ripper" Greco (bass; ex-Flamin' Groovies), and Ricky Tractor (Ricky Williams) (drums). Their debut, the self-financed double A-side, "Hot Wire My Heart" and "Baby You're So Repulsive", appeared at the end of 1976, and is the first single released by a U.S. punk act from the West Coast.
Michael Goldberg, critic for New York Rocker magazine, wrote in 1978: "Crime play loud. So loud that the plate glass window at the opposite end of the club shakes, tables tremble and people hang onto their drinks. Loudness may be Crime's only musical raison d'etre. This band is a literal translation of the concept 'minimal.' Drummer Hank Rank thumps out a simple Bo Diddley beat that is only adequate in the context of the rest of the band. Bassist Ron the Ripper coaxes a thick rumble from his amp that reminds one of the thunder of a bulldozer rolling over rugged terrain. And the guitar playing of [Johnny] Strike and Frankie Fix make you feel like you've been forcefully held underwater for the full 25 minutes of the set.
After releasing one single, another double A-side, "Frustration" and "Murder by Guitar", Black was replaced by Hank Rank (Henry Rosenthal) that same year.
In 1979, Greco left the band and was replaced by Joey D'Kaye (Joey Swails) on bass, who had been the band's sound engineer.
Greco and Black both returned for Crime's last release, the single "Maserati/Gangster Funk" in 1981, while D'Kaye moved to synthesizers and produced the recording. The band split up the following year. Strike and D'Kaye briefly formed a synthpunk duo called Vector Commande, while Fix attempted to start a solo career. Neither produced any record releases.Ricky Tractor died in 1992, Frankie Fix in 1996, and Brittley Black in 2004.gf8496395168

Aloran Sattarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683541174879396349noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8405206691374275611.post-43871245199610409322011-04-23T12:42:00.000+05:302011-04-23T12:42:26.871+05:30Reset

Genre:Punk Rock,Skate Punk

Reset is a punk rock band that formed in 1993 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.Reset was formed in 1993 by Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau when they were 13 years old. The original band members were Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Philippe Jolicoeur (guitar and vocals), Chuck Comeau (drums) and Jean-Sébastien Boileau (bass). The first name for Reset was Roach, but there was another band in Canada also named Roach so the band members changed the name to Reset.
The band's first full length album, No Worries, released in 1997, was recorded at Le Studio Morin-Heights and produced by Rod Shearer. The band shot a video clip for the single "Why?". In 1998, the band lineup changed. Bouvier took Boileau's place in playing bass and a new member, Adrian White from Vancouver, replaced Comeau as drummer after a conflict between Bouvier and Comeau (see song Friend - 1999).
In 1999, the band released No Limits, which was co-written by Adrian White. This album was recorded in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was produced by Greg Reely. Three video clips were filmed for No Limits: "Pollution", "Pressure", and "My Dream and I". Shortly after the filming of "Pressure", Bouvier left Reset to reacquaint with Comeau and form Simple Plan. David Desrosiers replaced Bouvier in 2000 but only stayed with the band for six months, being recruited by Simple Plan members to fill their bass spot.
"Choke" and "Kyoto" are the singles and the new video clips for that album. On "Kyoto", Reset speaks about Kyoto Protocol. Today, Reset has a new line-up with Philippe Jolicoeur (guitar and vocals), Martin Gendreau (drums) and Claude Plamondon (bass and vocals).
This last song is based on the book named Papillon written by Henri Charrière. The single for this album is the song named 'No Intensity'. The album is produced by Rod Shearer, who also produced No Worries and the band's demo CD Concerned.
Over the years Reset participated in five Canadian tours and three American tours, the 1997, 2000 and 2006 Vans Warped Tour in North America. Reset has played with bands such as Green Day, MxPx, NOFX, Pennywise, Millencolin, Lagwagon, Face to Face, Strung Out, and Ten Foot Pole.
The Teen Idles were an American hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C. in August 1979. Teenagers Nathan Strejcek, Geordie Grindle, Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson were the band's continual members. Their recorded output consists of two demo sessions and one EP—1981's Minor Disturbance—released prior to their breakup in November 1980. The Teen Idles were the first band to be signed to the influential independent record label Dischord Records. They were an early landmark in both the straight edge and D.C. hardcore movements, while MacKaye and Nelson would later form the seminal punk outfit Minor Threat.
Inspired by other American punk bands like The Cramps and Bad Brains, The Teen Idles' music was an early version of hardcore punk, and an attempt, in the words of MacKaye, "to get away from a really corrupted music." Their appearances, lyrics and musical style sought to revive a punk movement that they believed had lost its original zeal.

In 1978, Washingtonian Ian MacKaye discovered punk rock through a local college radio station, Georgetown University's WGTB. He met Jeff Nelson, a classmate of his, after Nelson set off a pipe bomb outside their school and MacKaye went to investigate. The two became friends and quickly discovered their shared interest in punk. MacKaye and Nelson saw their first punk show in January 1979—a benefit concert by The Cramps for WGTB. The concert inspired the pair; MacKaye later admitted, "It blew my mind because I saw for the first time this huge, totally invisible community that had gathered together for this tribal event. I thought, 'This appeals to me.
This is what I need.'"After seeing a Bad Brains concert, teenagers MacKaye and Nelson began playing in a punk band, The Slinkees, with school friends George Grindle and Mark Sullivan. The Slinkees played a single show before Sullivan went to college. After a failed attempt to recruit MacKaye's friend Henry Garfield (later Henry Rollins), the band recruited Nathan Strejcek as a vocalist. The Slinkees soon renamed themselves The Teen Idles. After touring and practicing for several months, the band recorded two demo sessions at a local studio in February and April 1980, despite the engineer and a visiting band openly laughing as they recorded. They also began playing at house parties and pizza parlors, as well opening for Bad Brains at an art gallery called Madam's Organ.
To revive the fervor of punk rock, which the band felt was being distorted by New Wave, The Teen Idles sought to make their appearance as intimidating as possible. They shaved their heads, grew mohawks and wore various punk accessories. Nelson and MacKaye even drove thumbtacks into the soles of their boots so they would make an "ominous clacking" sound when they walked. The band's visual presentation was at odds with their demeanor; according to MacKaye, "in our shows and within our own community, we were totally goofy guys. We were painfully honest — we didn't shoplift, we didn't vandalize, we didn't spray-paint. We don't do anything — everybody just hates us because of the way we look."
Aloran Sattarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683541174879396349noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8405206691374275611.post-69401344477799412422011-04-21T13:38:00.000+05:302011-04-21T13:38:12.495+05:30The Max Levine Ensemle

The Max Levine Ensemble is a DIY punk band from the Washington, DC metropolitan area. They play punk rock with various pop influences, and often have politically conscious lyrics. They used to have a rotating band roster that changed from tour to tour depending upon who could go. Though at one point they played regularly with 5-7 members, they generally play now as a three piece power trio consisting of David Combs, Ben Epstein, and Nick Popovici. The band was formed in 2000 when David Combs met Max Levine while attending highschool at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School. Max introduced David to various punk rock bands such as Propagandhi, Fugazi, and the Clash, as well as turning him on to radical politics. Combs had been playing in a ska band, and when Max asked him to cover punk rock songs in his ska band he thought it was inappropriate for the genre. Instead he invited several of his friends to start a new band that would play full sets of cover songs to be requested by Max Levine. They played their first show at a high school band show case in December 2000. [2] The set consisted of 5 cover songs and 2 originals. From then on the band focused on original material, but kept the name The Max Levine Ensemble in homage to their friend.
They self released two full length CDrs in 2001 and 2002 that were later released together on Fight The Octopus records as "Chach, Cops, and Donuts." In 2003 they released their third full length, "How to Build an Intergalactic Time Machine" recorded with Hugh McElroy of the Black Eyes. The band tours the United States. Notably they joined up with Operation: Cliff Clavin for their reunion tour and a split 7" in 2004, and toured as part of the Plan-It-X Records bus tour in 2005. The split 7" with Operation: Cliff Clavin was co-released by 60 different labels as a benefit for the Bloomington Bicycle Project. In 2005 a split 7" with The Spirit Animals was released.
In July 2008, the band was maligned by Ben Weasel the Screeching Weasel frontman on his radio show, "Weasel Radio." In 2009 the band took their revenge by releasing a "split" 7" that appeared falsely to be a collaboration with Ben Weasel, featuring clips from the radio show on the B side and songs like "Ben Weasel Thinks We Suck" on the A side.
In December 2009, synchronous to a five week US-tour, the band self-released a cassette tape EP entitled "Them Steadily Depressing, Low Down Mind Messing, Post Modern Recession Blues." Later in 2010 the EP was re-released on 7" by Asian Man Records.
Rudimentary Peni are a British anarcho-punk band formed in 1980.Rudimentary Peni emerged from the British anarcho-punk scene in the early 1980s. Lead singer/guitarist Nick Blinko is notorious for his witty macabre lyrics and dark pen-and-ink artwork, prominently featured on all of Rudimentary Peni's albums. Blinko is also rumored to have written the band's Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric album whilst resident in a psychiatric hospital. Bassist Grant Matthews has also written a number of songs for the band, though his lyrics primarily focus on sociopolitical themes. Very few photos exist of the band, as their albums feature Blinko's drawings instead, but Pushead published a few in an early edition of his magazine.
In Maximum RocknRoll, issue #237 (February 2003), Matthews explains how he came up with the name of the band: "When I was at school studying biology, we were told that in the fetal stage the clitoris is a rudimentary penis."
They have continued to self-release much of their material, with occasional offerings from other record companies. Early on, Rudimentary Peni had connections with fellow anarcho-punkers Crass, and their second 7" EP, Farce, was issued by Crass Records. Up through the band's first studio album, Death Church (1983), their records were packaged in fold-out paper sleeves full of artwork, lyrics and poster graphics characteristic of Crass and many other bands in the anarcho-punk scene.
Rudimentary Peni stopped performing in the mid-1980s after bassist Matthews was diagnosed with cancer. After a 4 year hiatus, they recorded Cacophony, a sonic tribute to seminal New England horror author H. P. Lovecraft. The band has continued to record and release material. Blinko authored a semi-autobiographical novel called The Primal Screamer, which is currently out of print. Blinko has also become increasingly popular in the Outsider Art scene.

Blinko continues to release new music, despite his move to a psychiatric hospital somewhere in London.[citation needed] Blinko also authored The Haunted Head. They have a cult following in the united states punk scene, with the "EP's of RP" and Death Church becoming diversely popular within various punk scenes in recent years, despite changing much of their early Anarcho Punk after the release of Farce (collected in "EP's of RP"). Most reissues of their 80's albums are now out of print.

TV presenter Gaby Roslin selected Rudimentary Peni's "Alice Crucifies The Paedophiles" as one of her eight chosen records on the BBC Radio's Desert Island Discs
